eyeTunes Thursday

Another scary ventriloquism act…
Recorded live in concert! I’ll bet you anything they used a laugh track!

Ventriloquism on records?
How can I tell if her lips are moving? How do I EVEN know she has a dummy named Erick? A dummy romance!

… The devil made me do this…

    • Hahaha! I too AM surprised at the popularity of ventriloquism. Especially since these two examples are from the Christian market. Ventriloquist and ventriloquist dummies don’t seem like a natural extension of the church.

    • Usually when I post these weird album covers, someone says they have a copy… I would love to know what these two Christian ventriloquist albums are like. I can’t help but think… Owning a dummy… Is probably some kind of a sin… 🙂 for example, do you take your dummy with you to church on Sundays and sit him/her next to you in the pew? Should the dummy place a donation in the plate? Should the dummy shake the preacher’s hand when leaving the church and compliment him on his sermon? Does the ventriloquist or the dummy sing the hymns?

      • If I remember correctly, ventriloquists were very popular in the 1950’s, 60’s, and part of the 70’s. In fact, I watched Howdy Doody as a child. In the 1970’s there was a woman in the Miss America contest who wanted to “bring ventriloquism into the weather.” In other words, she wanted to have her dummy give the weather report. Was it possible that 2 dummies would be giving the weather report?

I believe it was the last Miss America contest I ever watched. 🙂

  1. I’m not sure who is having more fun, Beverly (she seems to be napping), or Erick (he is finally able to rest his eyeballs!) I am afraid of what comes next. Should I fear the Kool-Aid? 😉

    • Lol! The mind absolutely reels at these ventriloquist! I would also like to know… Who wrote the law that these dummies must all look alike? It’s like a club. At least Charlie McCarthy had a monocle. I think it would be funny if all ventriloquist dummies looked like Pee Wee Herman. 🙂
